Northeast monsoon, easterlies to bring rains in large swathe of PH
MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon and the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean will bring rains in a large portion of the country on Monday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
“Sa kasalukuyan, nakakaapekto ang northeast monsoon o amihan dito sa Hilaga at Gitnang Luzon, samantala ang easterlies ay nakakaapekto naman sa silangang bahagi ng Katimugang Luzon, Kabisayaan, at Mindanao,” Pagasa weather specialist Meno Mendoza said in a weather forecast issued at 4 a.m.
(Currently, the northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting the weather in the Northern and Central Luzon, while the easterlies are affecting the weather in the eastern portion of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.)
“Ang nasabing mga weather system patuloy na nagdadala ng pag-ulan sa malaking bahagi ng ating bansa,” he added.
(The said weather systems are causing rains in a large portion of the country.)
Based on Pagasa’s forecast, the easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region and Soccsksargen.
The northeast monsoon, meanwhile, will bring cloudy skies with light rains in Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Aurora, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon.
