1,097 new infections drive PH’s COVID-19 count to 476,916

MANILA, Philippines — One thousand and ninety seven more individuals have contracted the coronavirus disease, raising the country’s case count to 476,916 as of Saturday.

According to the Department of Health’s daily case count, the new cases drove the number of active cases to 27,721.

Majority or 82.3% of the active cases have mild symptoms, 9.8% are asymptomatic, 2.6% are having severe symptoms, while 4.9% are in critical condition.

The DOH also logged 47 new recoveries and five fatalities, raising the total to 439,942 and 9,253, respectively.

Davao Del Norte registered the most number of new COVID-19 with 65 cases, followed by Davao City (60), Laguna (53), Batangas (48), and Cavite (43).

DOH said it removed one duplicate from the total case count.

Fifteen labs were not able to submit their data on Jan. 1.
