MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has approved more relax quarantine restrictions for Isabela and Iloilo City, which will now be under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) from Jan. 1 to Jan. 31.

Duterte earlier included Isabela and Iloilo City in the list of places under general community quarantine (GCQ), although the classification was subject to appeal.

On Friday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said these two places will now be under MGCQ for this month. The areas that will remain under the stricter GCQ are Metro Manila, Santiago City, Batangas, Tacloban City, Iligan City, Lanao del Sur, Davao City and Davao del Norte.

The rest of the country will be under MGCQ. More businesses are allowed to operate at a higher capacity in areas under MGCQ, the least restrictive of the quarantine classifications.
