OVP spox on Pulse Asia survey: ‘Masyado pang maaga para sa pamumulitika’
MANILA, Philippines — It’s too early for politicking and jostling for the 2022 elections, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) said Friday.
The OVP issued the statement after results of a recent Pulse Asia survey showed Vice President Leni Robredo ranking only sixth in the list of possible 2022 presidential bets.
OVP spokesman Barry Gutierrez said Robredo’s office is not “paying much mind” to the said early survey results since the elections are still “a long way away.”
“Right, now the VP is still focused on working to help our Filipinos get past the crisis of COVID-19, and recover from the calamities of the past few months,” he said in a statement.
“Masyado pang maaga para sa pamumulitika at pakikipag-gitgitan para sa eleksyon,” (It’s too early for politicking and jostling for the 2022 elections) Gutierrez added.
Results of the Pulse Asia survey showed Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as the top contender in the 2022 national elections, with 26% of 2,400 individuals surveyed saying that they will vote for her if the presidential elections were to be held now.
Duterte was followed by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and Senator Grace Poe, who both received the support of 14% of the respondents.
Robredo only came sixth in the list, with an 8% rating.
