/ 05:08 AM January 01, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ordered Laoag City Mayor Michael Keon to explain why he should not be charged for allegedly throwing a Christmas party in violation of the ban on mass gatherings.

DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said all Christmas parties had been banned as they were considered nonessential and ascertained to cause transmission of the new coronavirus.
