Pagasa: Cooler weather in Northern, Central Luzon on last day of 2020

MANILA, Philippines — Cooler weather due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will prevail in parts of Northern and Central Luzon on Thursday—the last day of 2020— the state weather bureau said.

“Malakas itong northeast monsoon or amihan ngayon at nakakaapekto ito sa Northern and Central Luzon,” Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Loriedin Dela Cruz said in an early morning update.

(This northeast monsoon or amihahn is affecting Northern and Central Luzon.)

“Mas ramdam ho itong mga malamig na simoy ng hangin dito sa Extreme Northern Luzon, particular sa mga lalawigan o probinsya ng Batanes at Babuyan Islands, kasama na ang natitirang bahagi ng Cagayan Valley region at maging sa Aurora province,” she added.

(Cool breeze will be most felt in extreme Northern Luzon, particularly in Batanes and the Babuyan Islands, including the remaining parts of Cagayan Valley and even Aurora.)

The “amihan” will likewise bring cloudy skies with rain showers to  Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Nueva Ecija and Bulacan.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain showers are expected in the Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Bicol region and the Visayas regions will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the tail-end of frontal system, Pagasa said.

Mindanao meantime will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
