‘Amihan’-induced rains trigger floods in Cagayan province
TUGUEGARAO CITY –– Floods submerged two villages in Cagayan province on Wednesday due to the rains caused by the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the tail-end of a frontal system, officials here said.
Rogelio Sending Jr., provincial information officer, said floods were reported in Barangay Masical in Baggao town and Barangay Cumao in Gattaran town due to the occasional heavy rains.
Farmer Ampong Duldulao of Masical said they were still recovering from their losses of about P100 million due to the recent floodings.
“We just replanted after the floods, and yet here comes another flood,” Duldulao told the Inquirer.
In Barangay Cumao, people have started securing their personal belongings as waist-deep floods hit some houses.
