Crime gang member dead in Laguna shootout
SAN PEDRO CITY –– An alleged member of a criminal gang in Laguna province was killed in a shootout with the police in this city on Tuesday evening, authorities said Wednesday.
The police identified the slain suspect as James Elomina, a member of the Irineo Fajardo Criminal Group.
Elomina had a pending warrant of arrest for homicide, the police also said.
A report from the Laguna police said intelligence officers tracked down Elomina in Barangay Cuyab here around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
As police attempted to serve the warrant, Elomina reportedly scurried off, prompting a chase.
Elomina drew and fired a gun, forcing authorities to return fire, the police claimed. He was rushed to the Jose Amante Hospital in this city but he died on the way.
