MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health on Tuesday logged 886 new COVID-19 cases, making the country’s case count soar to 471,526.

The additional cases brought the number of active cases to 23,348, according to the DOH’s daily case bulletin.

The DOH also recorded 253 new recoveries and 38 new deaths, bringing the total to 439,016 and 9,162, respectively.

Davao City registered the highest number of new infections with 61 cases, followed by Pampanga (58), Bulacan (45), Quezon City (45), and Cavite (37).

The DOH said it removed 10 duplicates from the total case count, nine of which are recovered cases.

Meanwhile, eight cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths.
