New low pressure outside PH to bring scattered rain
MANILA, Philippines — A new low pressure area (LPA) brewing outside the Philippine territory will bring scattered rain and thunderstorms across the country on Tuesday, the government weather service said.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the new weather disturbance was last seen 1,500 kilometers (km) east of Mindanao on Monday morning.
In an interview, Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said the LPA was expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Tuesday or Wednesday morning. But it has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression, he said.
The weather bureau is also monitoring another LPA west of the country, located at 225 km east southeast of Kalayaan Islands in Palawan province at 3 p.m. on Monday. The other LPA, last seen east of Aurora province, already dissipated at 2 p.m. on Monday, Estareja said.
