Mining firm extends help to kin of landslide victims

MANILA, Philippines — Carmen Copper Corp. (CCC) has extended various forms of financial and other assistance to the immediate family of three CCC workers killed after a landslide hit its mine site in Toledo City, Cebu province.

In a statement, the company said it had also committed to provide free education and allowances to all their children until they graduate from college. It also offered to employ at CCC their next of kin, spouses and children.

CCC will also provide the same benefits to the immediate family of the missing CCC workers. It also extended support to the family of a subcontractor’s worker who was among the victims.

To help the Mines and Geosciences Bureau with the investigation, the company is providing daily updates on the search operations and developments at the Carmen mine site.

City officials are also being regularly informed and briefed on activities related to search operations.
