Rainy weather expected in NCR, Southern Luzon areas on Saturday

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and Southern Luzon areas will experience isolated thunderstorms on Saturday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

“Sa natitirang bahagi ng Southern [Luzon] at sa may Kamaynilaan, asahan po natin na may isolated na thunderstorm and then pagkidlat at pagkulog,” said Pagasa weather specialist Shelly Ignacio, in a livestreamed weather update on Pagasa Facebook.

(For Southern Luzon areas and Metro Manila, expect isolated thunderstorms as well as lightning and thunder.)

Meanwhile, Ignacio reiterated that the low pressure area (LPA), located at 660 kilometers east southeast of General Santos City, South Cotabato, will bring rains over Visayas, Mindanao and some areas in Southern Luzon.

Specifically, Southern Luzon areas of Palawan and Bicol Region will experience rains due to the LPA.

“Sa ilang bahagi ng Southern luzon sa Palawan at Bicol region makaranas na pagulan. Pinapayuhan pa rin ang mamamyan na magingat po sa dahil sa epekto ng LPA,” said Ignacio.

(Bicol and Palawan will experience rainy weather. We are advising the public to be vigilant in the effects of the LPA.)

Meanwhile, amihan is affecting Northern Luzon, particularly, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region and Aurora.

There is also slim chance that the LPA will turn into a typhoon in the next 24 hours, Ignacio also noted.

“Itong LPA ay mababa po ang tsansa na maging bagyo in the next 24 hours (It is not likely that this LPA will turn into a typhoon in the next 24 hours.),” she said.
