Comelec allots P116M for laptops in 2022 polls
MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has allocated some P116 million for the purchase of 2,200 laptops to be used in the consolidation and canvassing of votes in the May 2022 national elections.
The poll body had already opened the bidding for the contract to supply 2,200 laptops at P52,800 per unit with a total contract budget of P116,160,000. It said the consolidation and canvassing laptops must be delivered to its Laguna warehouse in five tranches over five months next year.
The initial batch of 220 units must be delivered by May 30, 2021, followed by 440 units by June 30, 2021; 440 units by July 30, 2021; 440 units by Aug. 30, 2021; and the final 660 units by Sept. 30, 2021.
The consolidation and canvassing system conducts the automated tallying and monitoring of data received from polling precincts and lower levels of board of canvassers.
The bidding is restricted to businesses that are at least 60-percent Filipino-owned. The prebid conference is scheduled on Jan. 4 while the deadline for the submission of bids is on Jan. 18 next year. —DONA Z. PAZZIBUGAN
