BREAKING: Phivolcs: Magnitude 4.9 quake jolts General Nakar in Quezon
MANILA, Philippines — Earthquake rocked General Nakar town in Quezon province early Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Initial information from Phivolcs showed that the 4.9-magnitude quake was located 20 kilometers north and 45 degrees west of General Nakar. It struck at 2:14 a.m.
Philvolcs said the tremor was of tectonic origin and had a depth of 15 kilometers.
Phivolcs also said the temblor is not likely to cause damage but advised that aftershocks may occur.
On social media, some residents of Quezon City, Mandaluyong City, Makati City, and Antipolo City said they were roused from their sleep as they felt the earth moved.
