Duterte OKs P10K service incentive to gov’t workers

MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has authorized the grant of a one-time service recognition incentive (SRI) worth P10,000 each for qualified government employees.

Under Duterte’s Administrative Order (AO) 37 signed Dec. 18, the incentive will be received by workers in national government agencies, including those in state universities and colleges and government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs), and those occupying “regular, contractual, or casual positions.”

“The payment of the SRI to all qualified government employees shall not be earlier than 21 December 2020,” the order read.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, the Bureau of Corrections, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority will also receive the SRI, according to the AO.

Only personnel still in government service and those that have rendered at least four months of service as of Nov. 30 will receive the cash incentive.

Employees who have rendered less than four months of service are entitled to a pro-rated share of the SRI.

Government workers who have not received any additional year-end benefit in 2020 over and above the benefit under Republic Act 6686 are also entitled to the SRI, according to Duterte’s order.
