Pacquiao: There are offers to make movie about my life, possibly available on Netflix

MANILA, Philippines — Boxer and Philippine senator Manny Pacquiao said Monday there are proposals on the table to produce a movie about his life, with one of the stars possibly being actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

“There is a proposal but hindi pa kami seriously na nag-usap ng finality about that topic,” Pacquiao said in an interview with ABS-CBN News Channel when asked about the rumored movies.

“Iba-iba, tatlong movie ‘yun pero nandyan ‘yung Freedom Fighters, at itong movie na ito ilalagay sa Netflix,” the senator added.

According to reporters, which host Karen Davila cited in asking the questions, the cast includes Rami Malek who would play as Pacquiao, and DiCaprio who would play as Coach Freddie Roach.

Roach is Pacquiao’s boxing coach.

While Pacquiao confirmed that DiCaprio was brought up to possibly play Roach in the movie, Malek was not mentioned to him.

“Yes. Nabanggit sa akin,” Pacquiao said when asked about DiCaprio possibly playing Roach.

Pacquiao said he is willing to close a deal on the said film as long as there will be an agreement from his side and the producers.

“Actually, sa totoo lang, naudlot yan. Nahinto yung pagu-usap namin about sa ganyang mga transaction especially sa boxing career ko kasi itong sa pandemic, naka-focus ako doon sa pagtulong,” Pacquiao said.

Meanwhile, Pacquiao also mentioned in the interview that he is eyeing to return to the boxing scene in 2021—possibly one or two matches.

Pacquiao said if he were asked to make a choice, he said that he would like to fight against UFC superstar Conor McGregor first.

“I want to experience to fight an MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter,” Pacquiao said.
