BAGUIO CITY—Thirty-four new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVIID-19) were registered in Mountain Province on Sunday, the highest single-day record in the province since the pandemic began, officials said,
Most of these came from Bontoc town, which logged 18 cases. The other COVID-19 patients were from Besao, Bauko, Barlig and Sabangan, records from the provincial health office said.
The province only recorded its first COVID-19 case in June.
The new cases raised to 109 the province’s total COVID-19 cases with one death.
“We again appeal to everyone to stop being complacent and to strictly observe the wearing of masks and face shields, social distancing, constant disinfection or washing of hands, curfews and by abiding with other local guidelines against the COVID-19,” said the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council and the provincial COVID-19 task force in a joint statement.
