COVID-19 cases in PH nears 460,000 mark

MANILA, Philippines — The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines is approaching the 460,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,754 new cases on Sunday.

In its bulletin for December 20, DOH said the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is now at 459,789—of which 21,708 are considered active.

DOH also reported 8,080 new recoveries, bringing the total of those who have recovered to 429,134, while the death toll is now at 8,947 after 36 more individuals succumbed to the disease.

Of the newly reported cases, DOH said 163 are from Quezon City, 104 are from Rizal, 83 are from Benguet, 83 are from Laguna, and 61 are from Bulacan.
