MANILA, Philippines — The government on Friday prohibited the expansion of accessory activities in golf clubs while health authorities review protocols to ensure protection from coronavirus disease.

“In the same meeting the IATF [Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases] directed the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP) to cease and desist in the expansion of permissible accessory activities in the golf clubs like the reopening of locker rooms for golfers, among others, pending the review and approval of health protocols by the appropriate government agencies,” presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Roque said the NGAP may also transmit its proposed health protocols for golf to the Department of Health and Department of Labor and Employment for evaluation.

The IATF allowed golf course to open during general community quarantine in May provided that guidelines are being followed.
