Active COVID-19 cases reach 25,695 with 1,470 new infections
MANILA, Philippines — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 25,695 as of Thursday, after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,470 new coronavirus infections.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, the new cases pushed the total infection count to 454,447 — of which 92.4 percent or 419,902 are recoveries.
A total of 633 new recoveries was recorded, but 17 patients died due to the virus, bringing the death toll to 8,850.
Still, most of the active cases or 84.8 percent only experienced mild symptoms, while 6.9 percent were asymptomatic or did not show any coronavirus disease symptom.
On the other hand, 2.7 percent exhibited severe symptoms, while 5.4 percent of the active cases are under critical condition.
Article continues after this advertisementMajority the cases reported on Thursday came from Quezon City with 74, followed by Rizal province (64), City of Makati (58), Davao City (55), and Quezon province (46).
DOH said that 1,582 of the 23,567 tests conducted on Tuesday turned out positive, although the department did not elaborate why the remainder of the cases were not included in Thursday’s bulletin.
