/ 05:14 AM December 17, 2020

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday that it was monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) that was spotted over 1,000 kilometers off Mindanao. The LPA, located 1,025 km east-southeast of Mindanao, is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility in 12 hours or early Thursday, but it has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to the state weather service’s assessment. The weather disturbance is expected to bring cloudy skies and scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao, Caraga and Davao regions. It is also expected to traverse southern Visayas and Northern Mindanao and then head over to Palawan before it exits to the West Philippine Sea on Sunday. —NIKKA G. VALENZUELA
