Man accidentally shows video of cannabis farm to police, gets arrested

A man who accidentally showed a video of a cannabis farm on his phone to the police got himself and his accomplice arrested while the said farm in England, United Kingdom, was busted.

The suspect, who was accompanied by another man, was inside what was described as a suspicious vehicle when they got pulled over by police, as per Sky News on Dec. 14.

The identities of the men, aged 38 and 32, were not disclosed. They were driving a gray Mercedes that reportedly smelled strongly of cannabis.

One of the suspects, who did not speak English as his first language, tried to use Google Translate on his phone to talk to the police but accidentally showed them a video of a cannabis farm, according to the report.

While police were not able to find anything inside the car, two were arrested for suspicion of production of a Class B drug. They have since been released on bail.

Police were, however, able to locate the farm they saw on the video and seized over 600 cannabis plants that filled up three floors.

“This was a rather unusual incident which saw a suspect open up his phone to try and use Google Translate — but inadvertently showed us a video of a cannabis farm in the area,” Northumbria Police Sergeant Steve Passey was quoted as saying.

“It’s safe to say the suspect was a little shocked and tried to quickly lock his phone in the hope that nobody had seen,” he added. Ian Biong /ra
