Bataan cop slain in gun attack

SAMAL, Bataan –– A policeman assigned to the Balanga City police station was gunned down by unidentified assailants here on Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Police Staff Sergeant Frederick Oconer, who had just arrived in Bataan from Surigao City two months ago.

Oconer was on his way home after his duty when gunmen aboard a Toyota Avanza waylaid him around 9 a.m., investigators said.

The gunmen reportedly used an M-16 Armalite in the attack.

Police have yet to establish a motive behind the killing.
