Active cases return to 24,000 mark with 1,135 new COVID-19 infections — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active coronavirus infections increased to 24,160 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,135 new cases on Tuesday.

According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, the active cases represent 5.3 percent of the total case count, which is now at 451,839.  Recoveries are now at 418,867 after 173 patients recovered from the disease.

On the other hand, DOH reported 56 new deaths, which pushed the death toll to 8,812.

Most of the active cases or 84.7 percent still experience mild symptoms; 6.4 percent of them are asymptomatic; while 2.9 percent exhibited severe symptoms.

Also, there are some patients, at 5.7 percent of the active cases, who are in critical condition.

Majority of the cases reported on Tuesday came from Rizal province (117), followed by Bulacan (84), Quezon City (71), Isabela (39), and Laguna (38).

At least 862 of the positive cases were from the 18,813 tests done on Monday.
