9,269 recoveries in PH bring active COVID-19 cases to below 22,000

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 9,269 recoveries recorded on Sunday brought down the country’s active COVID-19 case count to 21,980, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed.

According to DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin, there are 1,085 new cases recorded, bringing the total overall cases to 449,400.  The number of active cases account for 4.9 percent of the total number.

However, three more deaths bring the death toll to 8,733, or 1.94 percent of the total count.

Most of the active cases or 84.4 percent still experience mild symptoms, 5.8 percent are asymptomatic, while 3.2 percent exhibited severe symptoms.

Another 6.3 percent of the sick patients are currently in critical condition.

Majority of the new cases stemmed from Quezon City with 103, followed by Rizal (46), Makati City (44), City of Manila (43), and Pasig City (39).

Of the positive cases noted on Thursday, 1,086 positive cases came from the 26,603 tests conducted on Wednesday.
