Batanes, PH’s northernmost province, now has 3 COVID-19 cases
TUGUEGARAO CITY—A third COVID-19 case was recorded in the country’s northernmost province, Batanes, on Friday (Dec. 11).
The infected person was an 82-year-old man who returned to Batanes from Bacoor in Cavite province.
He flew into Batanes on a Sky Pasada plane last Dec. 9. He is now on quarantine at the Batanes Resort, the designated isolation facility for COVID-19 patients in the province.
Contact tracing is now ongoing, according to officials.
Batanes recorded its first COVID-19 case last October.
Gov. Marilou Cayco said all Batanes residents returning to the province but had been stranded elsewhere by quarantine restrictions are getting tested for SARS Cov2, the virus that causes COVID-19, upon arrival at the airport in Basco, the Batanes capital.
