San Fernando health workers attend seminar on drug abuse awareness

AT least 124 workers from the different barangays in San Fernando town, southern Cebu attended a seminar on drug abuse awareness and control.

Taiheiyo Cement Philippines Inc. (TCPI) and raw materials supplier Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC) sponsored the activity under their joint Social Development Management Program that promotes public health.

The seminar was conducted by Dr. Ildebrando Estella and company nurse Fredbert Cortes at the TCPI Recreation Center.
The participants came from barangays Basak, Bugho, Cabatbatan, Ilaya, Magsico, North Poblacion, Panadtaran, South Poblacion, Tabionan, Tañañas, Tinubdan and Tonggo.

Dr. Estella and Cortes explained the effects, manifestations and realities about illegal drugs commonly available in the community. They explained how and why illegal drugs cause addiction, especially on the youth, and their effects to physical and mental well-being.

The participants were also taught how to fight the menace that has affected the youth in their respective communities.
