MANILA, Philippines — Activists from an animal rights group on Thursday urged everyone to stop the exploitation and oppression of animals that are used for food, clothing, entertainment, and research.

In celebration of International Animal Rights Day, activists displayed banners at the footbridge of Philcoa in Quezon City that read “End Speciesism,” “Go Vegan” and “Animal Liberation.”

They also encouraged everyone to practice veganism — a cruelty-free lifestyle that avoids the consumption and use of any animal-based products.

Kaya natin mabuhay nang di nag-aabuso ng kahit sino man,” Nancy Sy, an animal rights activist, told the INQUIRER.net.

(I urge everyone to be vegan as soon as possible. We do not need to eat any meat, fish, egg, or milk. We can live without hurting animals.)

(We want to inform everyone that we should be vegan because animals should not experience cruelty. We do not have any rights to claim their lives and freedom. We can live a healthy and happy life without harming them.)
