1,387 new COVID-19 infections push active cases to 26,545 — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — An additional 1,387 coronavirus infections recorded as of Wednesday pushed the total active COVID-19 cases to 26,545, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

DOH’s COVID-19 bulletin also showed that 156 more patients recovered from the disease, for a total of 408,942 recoveries, which accounts for 92.1 percent of all cases recorded in the country.

However, seven more deaths push the death toll to 8,677.

Most of the active cases, or 85.2 percent, experience mild symptoms, 6.6 percent are asymptomatic, and 2.7 percent exhibited severe symptoms.  Another 5.2 percent of the patients are currently in critical condition.

The majority of the new cases came from Batangas with 71, followed by Quezon City (70), Davao del Norte (64), Benguet (59), and Quezon province (57).

DOH also said that 1,038 of the 26,851 tests conducted on Tuesday, or 3.9 percent came out positive.

The department noted that it had removed eight duplicate entries from the total case count, of which three are recovered cases.  They also reclassified a wrongly entered recovered case as a death.

Aside from these, DOH said that 13 laboratories could not submit their data to the COVID-19 Data Repository System (CDRS) on Tuesday. [ac]
