A “stripper party” in New York was stopped by authorities for breaking restrictions imposed to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Police shut down the event in an underground Brooklyn strip club called Paper Rain on Dec. 1, as per the New York Post yesterday, Dec. 8.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said that officers went to the establishment after spotting ads for a “stripper party” that was set to be held there. When authorities entered, they found exotic dancers performing lap dances on their customers.

All patrons and employees present did not wear any face masks during the gathering. According to the report, a dancer was also drinking while manning the liquor bar.

Cuomo stated that the club had violated the statewide 10 p.m. curfew implemented on bars and restaurants due to the COVID-19 crisis. Days after shutting down the party, the state suspended the club’s liquor license on Dec. 4.

The governor’s office also noted that the establishment’s liquor license does not allow them to provide adult entertainment.

Along with Paper Rain, 278 bars and restaurants in New York have had their liquor licenses revoked as well throughout the pandemic for violations of COVID-19 regulations. According to the report, aside from losing their liquor license, each business also faces fines up to $10,000 (about P480,00) per violation. Ryan Arcadio /ra
