Woman with bogus peso bills nabbed in Quezon

LUCENA CITY –– A woman was arrested in Lopez town in Quezon province after she used bogus money in buying meat in a public market on Tuesday.

The Quezon police information office reported Wednesday that Asmia Kamad, 23, and a resident of Taguig City, was nabbed for paying a fake P1,000 bill to meat vendor Hector Sevilla in a transaction at 11:10 a.m.

An hour later, the suspect returned to the market and bought more meat from the same vendor using another fake P1,000 bill.

This time sensing that the money was fake, Sevilla called for police assistance that resulted in the arrest of the suspect.

Authorities recovered two more fake P1,000 bills from Kamad.

The suspect was detained at the local police jail and is facing charges of forgery and illegal possession of bank and treasury notes.
