Northern Luzon to have light rains due to ‘amihan’

MANILA, Philippines — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” is expected to bring rains over northern Luzon while easterlies will affect the rest of the country, the weather bureau said on Tuesday afternoon.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains brought about by the northeast monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 5 p.m. bulletin.

No significant impact is expected.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Pagasa warned that flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds from the east to northeast and moderate to rough coastal waters will prevail over northern and central Luzon.

Light to moderate winds in the eastern direction and slight to moderate sea conditions, meanwhile, will be experienced over southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, Pagasa said.
