The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) should resume the conduct of licensure examinations next year to avoid manpower shortages, a lawmaker said on Sunday. Iligan Rep. Frederick Siao said the PRC should look at the resumption of the board exams in the second half of 2021. “One year of suspended board exams is understandable and would have minimal impact on the supply of licensed professionals. But two years of having no board exams would have adverse impact on the workforce, companies and the economy,” Siao said. In August, the PRC postponed majority of the scheduled exams this year due to the pandemic. —Nestor Corrales
