Suspected NPA member killed in clash with military in Sarangani

MANILA, Philippines—An alleged New People’s Army member was killed by in an encounter with military troops in Sarangani province Monday morning, an Armed Forces of the Philippines Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman said.

Colonel Leopoldo Galon said that the still unidentified enemy was killed after military troops engaged roughly 20 armed suspected rebels in a firefight at Sitio (sub-village) Kaniyogan, Tamban village, Malungon town in Sarangani at around 10:30 a.m.

An M16 riffle with an M203 grenade launcher attached to it was recovered from the area, he said.
