Cops catch up with suspect in killing after 9 years

TAGBILARAN CITY—Police arrested a 28-year-old homicide and frustrated homicide suspect, ending his nine-year hiding, on Wednesday.

The suspect was arrested in the town of Loboc, Bohol province.

Police said Ricky Pardo Canaria, originally from Paracale town, Camarines Norte province, was subject of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Roberto A. Escaro, of the Regional Trial Court in Daet, Camarines Norte.

Canaria was arrested at home at the village of Gotozon in Loboc.

Canaria is facing a homicide and frustrated homicide case for killing someone and wounding another person in a knife attack. The warrant was issued after he repeatedly failed to appear in court.

He fled to Bohol with his common-law wife, who was a native of Loboc.

Bail was set at P40,000 for homicide and P24,000 for the frustrated homicide case.

Canaria is now being held at the Loboc police station.
