Motorcycle taxi driver killed, 3 passengers hurt in Calbayog gun attack
TACLOBAN CITY—A motorcycle taxi driver was killed and his three passengers were wounded in an attack by unidentified assailants in Calbayog City, Samar province on Thursday (Dec. 3).
A report submitted to the Philippine National Police (PNP) office in Palo town, Leyte province said Rio Sabilao, 39, was driving his motorcycle downhill at the village of La Paz in Calbayog with three passengers when the gunmen came and opened fire.
The wounded passengers were Virgenia Simino, 62; Zenaida Fermino, 54 and a 14-year-old student who has not been named in the PNP report.
The wounded were rushed to the Calbayog City District Hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. Sabilao’s body was brought to a funeral parlor for forensic examination.
Police have yet to identify the gunmen or determine the motive for the attack.
