MANILA, Philippines — Minors are allowed to go on out-of-town trips with their families amid the strict quarantine restrictions being imposed to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Thursday.
In an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo, Año said minors can be monitored easier by their guardians in this setting than in being inside shopping malls.
“Meron naman kasi tayong ano, for example ‘yung pamilya na gusto nyang magbakasyon, pumunta sa ganitong resort, pinayagan naman natin na kasama ‘yung minors dyan. ‘Yan ‘yung sinasabi nating pwede with parents kasi ang dali mong i-control kasi nga specific lang ‘yung lakad,” he said.
(Families who want to have a vacation or go to a specific resort are allowed to bring minors. Minors are allowed to go out with their parents under this setting because they can be easily controlled on these trips.)
“‘Yung mga lakad out of town, specific lang ‘yun tapos sasama lang sila, ‘yung buong pamilya, so mas madaling i-control ‘yun kaya pinayagan natin,” he added.
(Out-of-town trips are specific so minors can be easily controlled that’s why we allow them to join.)
Año earlier said that minors are still prohibited from going to malls in areas under a general community quarantine until local government units come up with their respective resolutions or ordinances.
