MANILA, Philippines — After four months of strict diet and exercise, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas on Thursday said he lost 20 kilograms in body weight.
“Kasi para mapakita ko sa iyo na I reduced 20 kilos [body weight],” the PNP chief told ABS-CBN News Channel news anchor Karen Davila over “Headstart,” noting that he specifically requested for a face-to-face interview.
(So that I can show you that I reduced 20 kilos.)
“Strict diet and exercise po. Gusto ko face-to-face para iyong picture nating dalawa [Sinas and Davila] na ‘before and after’ para makita mong nangayayat at kung sino nangayayat,” he further said, when asked how he lost body weight.
(Strict diet and exercise. I want the interview as face-to-face so that we can see who lost their weight through a before and after photo.)
Davila, however, noted that they underwent an online interview instead to ensure the health safety of Sinas as well as the employees at the newsroom.
Sinas noted that he followed a strict diet and exercised while consulting with physicians for his check-ups.
“That’s almost four months program at of course nag-umpisa ako, I consulted the doctor. I have medical check ups. […] Of course, bawas inom, kung inom kaunti lang tapos sleep well,” he said.
(Of course when I started, I consulted the doctor. I have medical check ups. Of course, I reduced drinking and I slept well.)
Last week, Sinas directed to continue the strict monitoring of body mass index (BMI) to ensure overweight police officers will get back in shape. The BMI requirement, which was first initiated by then retired PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa, was stopped due to the coronavirus disease pandemic.
