LUCENA CITY –– The two-day “simultaneous anti-criminality law enforcement operation” (Sacleo) in Quezon province has led to the arrests of 197 suspected criminals, police said Wednesday.
Simultaneous operations in 39 towns and two cities from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1 resulted in the arrests of 16 suspected drug pushers and 14 wanted criminals, four of whom are among the top 10 wanted felons in the province, Colonel Audie Madrideo, Quezon police director, said in a report.
Police teams also caught eight violators for illegal gambling, two illegal loggers, and one for carrying an illegal firearm.
Authorities confiscated two firearms and received six surrendered guns of different calibers.
At least 156 persons were also arrested for violation of local ordinances, most of which dealt with quarantine and other safety and health protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Sacleo replaced the police’s “one-time, big-time operation,” an all-out war against all local forms of criminalities in a given period.
