Tacloban mayor says COVID-19 cases in the city now curbed

TACLOBAN CITY –– Mayor Alfred Romualdez claimed that cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in this city have been controlled.

Romualdez said COVID-19 cases in Tacloban have been declining, with the daily figures now down to less than 10.

“We see that the numbers are going down based on the report of our contact tracers. That’s a very good sign considering that we are a highly urbanized city with a dense population,” he said.

Romualdez, however, urged the people not to be complacent and still observe the mandatory health protocols, like wearing a face mask and face shield and physical distancing.

Tacloban, the regional and commercial capital of Eastern Visayas, posted 1,056 COVID-19 cases, including 16 deaths.

At present, the city only has 44 active cases.

Tacloban is among the seven areas in the country still under general community quarantine as announced by President Duterte.
