SORSOGON, Philippines – The 2020 Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines pageant winners recently visited the Bicol region to extend aid to residents displaced by powerful typhoons last month.
Reigning queens Mrs. Philippines Worldwide Annette Mendoza, Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific Intercontinental Glovel Tasico, Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific All Nations Darling Topacio Edralin, Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific Cosmopolitan Sarima Paglas, and Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines Catherine Jordas Flores, who were crowned last October 30, braved a long land travel to Sorsogon on November 28 to distribute relief goods, and uplift the spirits of those reeling from the devastation of Typhoons Quinta, Rolly, and Ulysses.
They were led by MMG Queen of Hearts Foundation CEO Mitzie Go-Gil, herself an international beauty queen, having won the 2018 Mrs. Asia Pacific Tourism title in Singapore.
Last year’s national titleholders, 2019 Mrs. Worldwide second runner-up Llena Tan, and 2019 Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific Intercontinental Glynes Olbes, also joined the relief mission.
A total of 200 residents from Barangay Buenavista in the Bacon District of Sorsogon City received food items and other relief goods from the beauty queens.
Around 100 children from the same barangay also got an early Christmas treat from the foundation, when the beauty queens handed out toys and snacks.
Olbes, who is based in Sorsogon, coordinated the event with the offices of Mayor Esther Amor and Vice Mayor Eric Dioneda, Sorsogon first district Provincial Board Member John Ryan Dioneda, Sorsogon City Councilor Ben Dioneda, and Buenavista Barangay Chairman Michael Doringo.
Buenavista Elementary School Principal Norman Deladia and teacher Menchie Desuyo also approved the distribution of relief goods in the school grounds.
The reigning queens, along with their batch mates , Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific Global Louise Suzanne Alba-Lopez, Mrs. Philippines Asia Pacific Tourism Joanna Krisanta La Madrid, Mrs. Queen of Hearts Tourism Ivy Dianna Manzo-Bo, and Mrs. Queen of Hearts Philippines ambassador Teodora Pizarra-Albuquerque, had already distributed aid to typhoon survivors in Tumana, Marikina City, on Nov. 19.
The 2020 batch of beauties also distributed supplies at the female detainees in Rodriguez, Rizal, on Nov. 9.
The foundation is set to deliver aid to the Baseco compound in Tondo, Manila, and bring Christmas gifts to several areas, including Rodriguez in Rizal, and the Saint Rita Orphanage in Parañaque City.
