MANILA, Philippines — Philippines on Saturday registered 1,893 new infections of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), increasing the sum of country’s cases to 427,797.

As of 4 p.m., the Department of Health (DOH) wrote in its case bulletin that 7.3 percent of the total caseload or 31,402 cases are active.

Of the 1,893 additional cases, Davao City, which recently reverted to a general community quarantine, topped the list with 200 new virus infections.

This was followed by Negros Occidental with 123 new infections; Western Samar with 84; Pampanga with 60; and Quezon City with 57.

Meanwhile, 388,062 patients have recovered from the disease nationwide. This includes 474 additional recoveries.

Also 79 more people died of the respiratory illness, raising the country’s COVID-19 death toll to 8,333.

After conducting further validation, the health agency reported 14 duplicated cases which were deleted from the total caseload. Ten were recoveries and one was a fatality.

Eighteen cases that were tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths, DOH also noted.

Eleven molecular laboratories failed to send their COVID-19 data to the health department on Nov. 27, Friday.
