2 persons killed in Cebu road accidents

TWO persons were killed while five others were injured in vehicular accidents that happened in separate towns in Cebu at dawn yesterday.

Police identified the fatalities as Rommel Baguio, 25, and John Dealagdon, 18.

Police said Baguio drove a red Honda Wave motorcycle with plate number 7A-410 on his way home to barangay Bagatayam, Sogod town, northern Cebu past midnight.

Baguio was with Jonel Blanquero, 22, and Jesus Curbo, 21, as his backriders.

Police said the three friends came from a drinking session in barangay Poblacion which celebrated its fiesta.

SPO2 Gualberto Arnado of the Sogod police station said Baguio lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a curved portion of a road. The motorcycle hit a gutter, throwing the three men off the motorcycle.

The three men were rushed to the Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital but Baguio did not make it alive. Baguio suffered head injuries. Blanquero and Curbo sustained minor injuries.

In barangay Poblacion, Alcantara town, Dealagdon, 18, was killed after he and his backriders were thrown off the motorcycle they were riding past 3 a.m.

Police said Dealagdon drove a blue Honda motorcycle which hit the metal road railings in front of the Alcantara Parish Church

Dealagdon’s companions Jackson Gelasque, 20; Racil Amorante, 16; and Amy Mag-aso, 18, were wounded. They came from a disco in Moalboal town and were heading home when the accident occured.

Police said Dealagdon’s head hit the concrete post of the metal railings. The victims were brought to the Badian District Hospital where Dealagdon was declared dead by the attending doctors.

Barili Vice Mayor Marlon Garcia said the mmotorcycle driven by Dealagdon was owned by the municipality of Barili. Dealagdon was reportedly a bodyguard of Barili town Mayor Teresito Marinas./WITH REPORTS FROM CORRESPONDENT CARMEL LOISE MATUS
