MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake hit Surigao del Sur on Wednesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake struck at 10:25 a.m. at 36 kilometers northeast of the municipality of Hinatuan.
The quake was of tectonic origin and had an 18-kilometer depth of focus.
Intensity 1 was felt in Bislig City.
Phivolcs reported that no aftershocks or damages are expected from the tremor.
