Customers of Maynilad Water Services Inc. will have to endure five more days of rotational service interruptions, which the company extended until Nov. 29. Maynilad earlier this month said the service interruptions—low pressure to no water at all—were supposed to last until Nov. 24. It said heavy rains brought by Typhoon “Ulysses” (international name: Vamco) caused heavy inflow of very muddy raw water to three sedimentation basins at La Mesa Treatment Plant. Removing sludge from the third basin is taking longer than expected. “We are therefore constrained to extend up to Nov. 29 the rotational service interruptions,” Maynilad said. —Ronnel Domingo
