A “sex club” event attended by over 80 people in New York, United States has been busted for violating protocols against mass gatherings, among many other violations.

Deputy sheriffs shut down the illegal gathering in Astoria, Queens on the wee hours of Sunday, Nov. 22, the New York Sheriff’s Office disclosed on Twitter on the same day.

The event was in violation of emergency orders and was storing and selling liquor but had no liquor license, according to the sheriff’s office. Two organizers and one patron have since been charged with multiple misdemeanor counts.

The sheriff’s office tweet came with photos from the said busting of the event, including one showing a tarpaulin for the event that read, “CALIGULA NY NEW YORK’S #1 SWINGERS CLUB.”

Authorities found out about the said gathering after receiving a tip, as per NBC New York on the same day.

Astoria recently entered a “yellow zone” under New York’s micro-cluster approach to preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus. Areas belonging to the said zone cap mass gatherings at 25 people.

The deputy sheriffs who busted the swingers club reportedly saw three couples engaged in sexual intercourse in a small room, according to the report. Ian Biong/JB
