MANILA, Philippines — The family of University of the Philippines (UP) law professor Ryan Oliva is appealing for help as he has been missing since Saturday, his family said.
Ryan’s brother Randy made the appeal in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
“My brother, Atty. Ryan P. Oliva went missing since Saturday evening, November 21, 2020,” Randy said.
“Any information about his whereabouts will be highly appreciated,” Randy added.
Randy said that for any leads on Ryan’s whereabouts, the public may contact +63 906 300 1009.
Ryan teaches legal history and the law on agency and partnership at the UP College of Law, according to the college’s official website.
Aside from being a law professor, Ryan also works for the Department of Tourism’s Legislative Liaison Unit, as per the department’s site.
The DOT, in a statement, expressed its “deep concern” for its member Oliva.
“The DOT has coordinated with the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), and is in constant communication with Atty. Oliva’s family,” the department said.
It also urged the public to contact PNP-CIDG chief Maj. General Joel Napoleon Coronel through +63 920 905 1987 should they have any information on Oliva.
“The DOT also requests for prayers for successful search efforts and appeals for respect for the privacy of the Oliva family,” the DOT added.
Ryan obtained his journalism degree at UP in 2006. He also obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the same university in 2011.
Before becoming a law professor, Ryan was associated with the Castillo, Laman, Tan, Pantaleon, and San Jose Law Firm. His law practice focused on arbitration, commercial and securities litigation, family, labor, and criminal law, according to his profile on the UP website. [ac]
