MANILA, Philippines — The killing of a company messenger in Valenzuela City is now considered a case solved with the indictment of six suspects, including a police corporal and another dismissed policeman, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said Monday.
In a press conference at Camp Crame, Valenzuela City Police chief Col. Fernando Reyes Ortega said suspects Edgar Matis Batchar and Cpl. Michael Bismar Castro, who was absent without official leave, are now in police custody.
He said manhunt operation is ongoing for the arrest of four other suspects, namely Rico Sabuco Reyes, Narciso Cubos Santiago, dismissed Pat. Anthony Glua Cubos, and a certain Jo-Anne Quijano Cabatuan.

Ortega said they are the suspects in the killing of Niño Luegi Hernando, who was shot on October 9 and robbed of over P440,000 cash he was carrying and the motorcycle he was riding during the incident. Two of the suspects were riding a motorcycle when they attacked the victim.
Ortega identified Reyes as the alleged gunman and Santiago as the driver of the motorcycle that was used in the crime.
“Si PO1 Anthony Glua Cubos siya po ‘yung lumalabas na leader nung Cubos, na robbery holdap and gun for hire in Bulacan,” he also said.
“Then eto pong babae (Jo-Anne Quijano Cabatuan) this is the live-in partner of a certain Henry Rubio na naging kaibigan nung Narciso Cubos na nakakulong po sa Valenzuela City, at doon po napag-usapan ‘yung plano na pagpatay dun sa victim, because ‘yun pong victim is nag-witness and nag-assist doon sa rape victim na kapatid ni Joanne Cabatuan, na ang rape suspect naman po is ‘yung live-in partner ni Joanne Cabatuan,” he added.
According to Ortega, a criminal complaint was filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of murder, robbery, and carnapping. However, after appreciation of facts and evidence, the city prosecutor filed information to the court for a case of robbery with homicide and carnapping with no bail recommended.
