MANILA, Philippines — There is a low chance that a tropical cyclone may occur within the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the next five days, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Based on the weather forecast issued by Pagasa on Sunday morning, most parts of the country will have fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies.

“Mababa ang tsansa na magkaroon tayo ng tropical cyclone o bagyo sa loob ng ating Philippine area of responsibility sa susunod na limang araw,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

But while there is no weather disturbance being expected to occur in PAR in the coming days, Estareja also said that the northeast monsoon or amihan has slightly intensified and now affects the weather in a large portion of northern Luzon.

Specifically, the northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

Estareja said the northeast monsoon may also intensify in the coming days and affect other parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

In Luzon, localized thunderstorms may most likely occur in the provinces of Aurora and Quezon and in Bicol Region, according to Estareja.

He also said that the isolated rainshowers may occur in Mindanao and in the southern portion of Eastern and Central Visayas most likely in the afternoon.
