WATCH: Bautista explains why DSWD has P83B in unspent funds
MANILA, Philippines — Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rolando Bautista has explained that the P83 billion in unspent funds from its 2020 budget have been programmed for various programs, activities, and projects (PAPs) of the agency for the rest of the year.
Bautista made the explanation after senators flagged the DSWD for its unspent funds from the previous budget and two Bayanihan laws, even as millions of Filipinos still struggle from the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the recent typhoons on their livelihoods.
DSWD earlier explained that several factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, have affected the implementation of its programs.
